Exhibition time

Forever Find Me

Putting together exhibitions for both myself and for others is very much part and parcel of my working life as an Artist.

I am now painting for England as the exhibition season is well and truly underway.

As well as several exhibitions over the summer, I also have work at The Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder www.flatcatgallery.co.uk

and also at Number four Gallery in St.Abbs, Coldingham www.numberfourgallery.co.uk
I am taking part in Bywell Art Festival, Art in The Pen at Thirsk and Snods Edge Art Festival (which I also help to organise).

My solo exhibition of pastel paintings is now on display at Gallery 45 in Felton.

This exhibition brings together my 'Erosion' series with new seascapes and landscapes. 95% of the work has never been displayed to the public before, so I am really hoping it is all well received!. It is a rare opportunity to see a purely pastel exhibition and as Unison Colour pastels are handmade in Northumberland, it is all the more special to have the artwork in a Northumbrian gallery. I am very proud to be a Unison Colour Associate Artist - there is much this part of the world has to offer and if I can help to highlight it, all the better.

Despite years of experience in creating exhibitions and displays, when it comes to my own work, it is always a little nerve wracking.

I have a  personal connection with each painting and there are stories and reasons behind every one of them.

My 'Transience' series for example, is a record of one hour spent on Warkworth beach on the Northumberland coast. Almost a storyboard, but paintings within their own right, I wanted to capture moments in time - shapes, colours, movements, gone forever and my 'Erosion' series focuses on the movement of something seemingly static.

My work has taken an increasingly ecological turn over the past year, from my Seaweed series, to Woodlands ('Breathe' is now on display at Gallery 45 too) , the rocky shores of 'Erosion' and most recent seascapes. I am interested in the meeting of land and sea - two worlds that co-exist on this planet we mistakingly call ours. Two of my new pieces - 'Edge of Earth' and 'Forever Find Me', show where one world ends and another starts. The edge of grasslands and beginning of rocky shores, where the sea meets the land in broken fragments.

My hope is that my paintings make people pause and think of planet Earth, to look at things a little differently and perhaps be moved.

'Fiona Carvell - Pastel Artist', runs until July 5th at Gallery 45 in Felton, Northumberland.
